I fell in love with Boston.

My trip to Boston was a lot of fun. Matt and I ended up leaving Phoenix around 10 a.m. on a Monday. We landed at 10 p.m. in Providence, RI where we spent the night in a Motel 6. The beds there sucked because they were harder than rocks with severely deflated pillows. We just had to stay the night and we were off to the Boston train the next morning. We were tired when we checked into the Motel, but they had this little hole in the wall bar there and we had a few drinks before passing out for the night.
The next day, Matt and I woke up and took a Taxi to the train station where we waited for the inbound Boston train. I still was amazed with all the greenery and the fact that they had trains that went all over the coast. But… anyways… we made it to Boston around 2 in the afternoon where we proceeded to get off the subway train (the green line) off 3 stops too early (whoops!) so we had to walk about a mile and a half in the rain. Not fun. I was pissy, tired, and didn’t want to spend the day in the rain. We went to our hotel room for the rest of the week, and laid out all of our clothes and cleaned up before dinner that night.
Matt and I ended up at the bar about a block or two away called Wiskey’s. We had a bunch of drinks and met up with some middle aged drunk guy who kept talking about this seafood restaraunt that was “wicked good” and we had to go there. So… we paid our tab (which was rediculously expensive), and headed off in the direction of the seafood restaraunt (which we never found until a day later). We got lost, in our drunken stupor, found an Irish pub, had some wiskey, then found another seafood restaraunt. It was called Atlantic Fish Co. and it was by far the best seafood I have ever had in my life. However, the bill was damn expensive. I had red fish with lobster sauce and crushed red potatoes with a Jack & Coke. Matt had fresh Scallops and a white wine. Our bill was like $100 (whoa!). It was totally worth it, though.
Later that night, we went to Cheers, the bar that was based off the 80’s show. It was fun to be able to see the place and have an expensive beer. I bought my dad a shirt and by that time, Matt and I were tired and went back to the hotel to go to bed.
The next day Matt and I went to MIT to check out the campus. I bought my brother a sweatshirt and I took 500 pictures on our walk. It was gorgeous outside. After our MIT walk, we went for lunch, then headed back to the hotel for a nap before our baseball game. We got ready and headed off to the Red Sox game against Tampa Bay. I had bought Matt those tickets for Christmas last year, so I was excited to finally get to use them. We went to a bar along the Fenway park area after we picked up our Red Sox gear (me, a hat and t-shirt, matt got a t-shirt). We had a few beers, paid our tab, then went into the stadium.
The game was full of beer, abnormally large hot dogs, kettle corn, and more beer. The last call for beer was in the 7th inning. The game didn’t get over until the 14th inning. Afterwards, Matt and I headed over to Wiskey’s bar again afer buying more t-shirts by fenway. I bought a “Jeter drinks wine coolers” t-shirt and Matt bought another “NYY suck” type t-shirt. By the time we went back to the hotel, we were drunk as hell. I had no voice either, from 14 innings of screaming my lungs out.
The next day, Matt and I were so hung over. We slept and slept and slept and I finally got up and got us food, and then we slept some more. We ended up getting up at like 3 in the afternoon. We managed to get our assed up and go downtown Boston and ceck out the piers and the North end for some pasta. We ended up going to this small hole in the wall italian place. It was amazing food too. All I know is that if I lived in Boston, I would be 500 pounds from the pasta, but would lose it from walking around everywhere.
That Friday, Matt left to go to New York state to visit his family. Matt works at a golf course so they were overseeding the week after we were done in Boston, so he figured to take advantage of the fact that he was already on the east coast. That afternoon, I took my time going to the Providence air port to go home. However, in the process, had a few glitches.
First, on the train from Boston to Providence, I managed to lose my train ticket. I eventually found it, but managed to have to explain to the train conductor that I lost my ticket, but a few people around me vouched for me at the time (thank goodness).
Then… I get to the air port, and my plane was delayed. I managed to have a few cigarettes, few drinks, just hanging out. Then… found out that the flight might be more delayed because I was supposed to have a layover in Chicago, and it was pouring down rain at the time, and all the planes from Houston from the hurricane were coming up to O’Hare. Anyways… we sat in the plane for 3 1/2 hours, then finally took off. We mananged to land in Chicago around 9:00 at night… just 15 minutes later than the last plane to Phoenix.
Thank goodness I had talked to my mom in Providence about the delay and she actually came with my dad to pick me up at the air port. It was an unexpected visit to see the parents. It was nice, but I only got to spend a total of 8 hours with them and most of it was sleeping. Mom took me to the airport the next morning. It was still pouring down rain and lightening. I say bye to mom, and manage to get in the airport just fine. We board like normal, but then find out there’s a mechanical error. Once that error is fixed, there was lightening around and they brought in the ground crew for their safety. An hour later, we find out there’s more lightening. Then an hour later, we pull out, then they start loading more luggage in the plane (wtf?) then we leave a half hour later.
My friend Sara came with her dog, Eddie, and my dog Lola, whom she had been watching while I was gone. I was just so damn excited to be home and out of the airport. I had a nice trip, but it was good to be home.
Matt finally came back last Thursday, so we have been hanging out a lot… thus the delay in posting this entry… lol.
